Adriana Jimenez is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in the Epidemiology and Population Health Sciences Division at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Public Health Sciences. She is also an Infection Prevention Manager for the University of Miami Health System.
Before joining the University of Miami, Dr. Jimenez was an Infection Prevention Manager for Jackson Health System and an Adjunct/Lecturer at Florida International University Robert Stempel School of Public Health and Social Work.
Her research interests include the epidemiology of multidrug-resistant organisms and the prevention of healthcare-associated infections with special interest in the epidemiology of Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacterales. Most recently her research interest has focused on prevention and epidemiology of Candida auris infections. Dr. Jimenez’s work has been published in prestigious academic journals, including the Clinical Infectious Diseases (CID), Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology (ICHE), the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC), and Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID).
Dr. Jimenez is the recipient of an Excellence in Mentorship Award by Florida Professionals in Infection Control (FPIC) award, the Infection Preventionist of the Year Award by Vigilanz Corp, and the Dean’s Excellence Award by the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work at Florida International University.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Bacteriology and Clinical Laboratory from Colegio Mayor de Cundinamarca in Bogota, Colombia. She holds an M.P.H from Florida International University as well as a Ph.D. in Public Health. She is currently certified in Infection Prevention and Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology and licensed as a clinical laboratory supervisor by the Florida Department of Health.
